Chronicling the political atmosphere of the 1960s by focusing on one of the largest student activist organizations of that time, the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), REBELS WITH A CAUSE includes archival footage of protests member of the second continental congress and present-day interviews with former members. President of the Continental Congress - The President of the Continental Congress was the presiding officer of the Continental Congress. He was elected by the delegates to the congress.

First Continental Congress - The First Continental Congress was a body of representatives appointed by the legislatures of twelve North American colonies of Great Britain in 1774. Like the Stamp Act Congress, which was formed by colonials to respond to the unpopular Stamp Act, the First Continental Congress was formed largely in response to the so-called Intolerable Acts.

Second Continental Congress - The Second Continental Congress was a body of representatives appointed by the legislatures of several British North American colonies which met from May 10, 1775 to March 1, 1781. The First Continental Congress had sent entreaties to the British King to stop the Intolerable Acts and had created the Articles of Association to create a coordinated protest of the Intolerable Acts; in particular, a boycott had been placed on British goods.
